The Receiving Line
Posted in Wedding ArticlesReceiving lines can be an important tool in making sure each guest feels personally welcomed. Particularly if you have a large wedding, it may not be possible to visit with each guest at the reception. By taking the time to shake hands (or share hugs!) with your guests in the receiving line, you are able to express a personal thank you for attending.
It is not necessary to have the entire bridal party in the receiving line. The bride and groom, the bride and grooms mothers, and the maid or matron of honor are required while the best man, groomsmen, fathers, and bridesmaids may mingle.
The order is as follows:
- Mother of the Bride
- Father of the Bride
- Mother of the Groom
- Father of the Groom
- Bride
- Groom
- Maid or Matron of Honor
- Best Man
- Female Attendants (if desired)
- Male Attendants (if desired)
